1.2: The Dashboard, Wrapped & a DJ Role
Beatkit now has a dashboard on the website, a monthly Wrapped of everything you listened to, a DJ role so servers can choose who controls the music - and the music no longer stops when Beatkit restarts for an update.
The dashboard
Open the Dashboard (it's also in the account menu), pick a server, and control its music from your browser:
- See what's playing: the song, its cover and a live progress bar - click the bar to jump to any point in the song.
- Controls: pause, skip, previous, stop, loop, volume and mute, plus shuffle, autoplay, vote-skip, 24/7 and filters on Premium servers.
- Add songs: search, or paste a YouTube, Spotify or Apple Music link. It works just like
/play, so join a voice channel first. - The queue: play a song now, move songs up and down, remove them, or clear the queue.
- Server settings: the DJ role and the default volume.
Everything updates within about a second, including changes made in Discord. The dashboard follows the same rules as Discord - if you can't skip a song with /skip, you can't skip it from the website either - and what you do there is posted in your music channel with your name, just like a command.
The first time, log in again on the website: Discord will ask to share which servers you're in, so the dashboard can find the ones with Beatkit.
Wrapped
Your month in music with Beatkit: how many minutes you listened, how many songs you heard and added, and your top songs and artists - across every server.
/wrapped viewshows yours, only to you, as a picture you can share with a link.- On the 1st of every month, Beatkit posts "Wrapped is ready" in your server with a button, so everyone can see theirs. Server admins can turn that off with
/wrapped posts off. - Your Wrapped is linked on the Dashboard too.
Beatkit has just started counting, so October is the first full month - look out for it on November 1st. Until then, /wrapped view shows your month so far.
Personalize Bot, per server
Your custom bot's settings now live on each server's page in the dashboard, under Personalize Bot. Next to the name, avatar, status and colour, it shows whether your bot is in that server, with a button to add it there.
DJ role
Choose who controls the music with /djrole set (needs Manage Server). With a DJ role:
- Only DJs can skip, stop, pause, change the volume or filters, and rearrange the queue - with commands, the Now Playing buttons or the dashboard.
- A DJ is anyone with the role or Manage Server, or whoever is alone with Beatkit in voice.
- Everyone can still add songs, and skip or remove the songs they added. With
/voteskipon, listeners vote to skip.
Turn it off again with /djrole off.
Music keeps playing through restarts
When Beatkit restarts for an update, it now picks up where it left off: it rejoins your voice channel and carries on with the same song from the same spot, with your queue, loop, filter and volume just as they were.
A proper hello
When Beatkit joins a new server, it posts a short welcome with how to get started, plus links to the commands, Premium and the support server.
