Draft document. This page describes how Beatkit actually works today, but hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer. Treat it as a starting point, not a finished legal document.
When you log in with Discord, we receive your Discord user ID, username, and avatar image, plus the list of servers you're in (each server's name and icon, and whether you can manage it). The server list is only kept in your login session, to show your servers on the dashboard — it isn't stored anywhere else.
For your monthly Wrapped, Beatkit records which songs play while you're in a voice channel with it, which songs you add, and how long you listen — kept for about a year. Your Wrapped is only shown to you, unless you share its link: the share page shows your Discord name and avatar, your listening time and your top songs and artists, but not which servers you listen in.
When you control the music from the dashboard, what you clicked is kept for up to an hour so Beatkit can carry it out, and Beatkit posts it in your server's music channel with your name — the same as using the command in Discord.
If you link Patreon, we store your Patreon user ID and your membership status for Beatkit's campaign, so the site can show whether you have Premium.
If you link Spotify on your profile, we store the Spotify account ID and name connected to your Discord account, to show it on your profile. If you save Spotify playlists there, we store each playlist's link, name, cover image and song count, so /myplaylists can play them. If you link Last.fm, we store your Last.fm username and the key Last.fm gives Beatkit to scrobble for you — it stays on our website and is only used to send the songs you listen to with Beatkit to your Last.fm. You can unlink an account or remove a playlist at any time on your profile.
Through normal bot use, we store your favorited songs, listening stats, and per-server volume preferences — this is what powers commands like /favourite and /mystats.
The public Leaderboard lists the most-played tracks and the top requesters. If you're one of the top requesters, your Discord username and the number of songs you've requested are shown there. Nothing else about your account is published.
Beatkit does not log or store the content of your regular chat messages. It only acts on the commands you run.
We never see your payment details — Patreon handles all billing directly, and no card or bank information ever passes through Beatkit's systems.
Data is stored in a database on our hosting provider, kept outside the publicly accessible part of the website.
Discord (for login, bot functionality, and — only if you link Spotify — reading which Spotify account is connected to your Discord), Patreon (for Premium membership status), Last.fm (only if you link it, to scrobble what you listen to), and YouTube / Spotify / Apple Music (for resolving song requests — these are not linked to your account, just used to find and play the track you asked for).
Want your data removed, or don't want to appear on the Leaderboard? Reach out in the support server and we'll take care of it.
